DIY: How to Make a Spring-Inspired Egg Holder Using a Chino Valley Ranchers Egg Carton
Looking for a fun and easy way to display your Easter or springtime eggs? We’ve got you covered! This DIY egg holder is not only adorable and seasonal—it’s also made using our very own egg carton.
With just a few supplies, a little creativity, and some colorful paint, you can create a custom egg holder that’s perfect for your kitchen counter, brunch table, or Easter display. Bonus: it makes a sweet gift, too!
What You’ll Need:
-
White oven-bake clay
-
A rolling pin
-
Scissors
-
White acrylic paint
-
Colorful acrylic paint (for flowers)
-
Mod Podge (or any paint sealer)
-
Paintbrushes
-
Oven (for baking the clay)
Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Roll Out the Clay
Use a rolling pin to flatten your white oven-bake clay into a sheet about ¼ inch thick. This will become the base for your egg holder mold.
2. Create the Mold
Cut off the top of your egg carton. Gently press the flattened clay sheet into the bottom half of the carton to form the mold shape.
3. Trim the Edges
Using scissors or a clay tool, cut away any excess clay along the edges for a clean, finished look.
4. Bake the Clay
Carefully remove the molded clay from the carton and bake it according to the instructions on your clay packaging. Make sure it’s fully cured.
5. Let It Cool
Once baked, allow the clay to cool completely before moving on to the painting steps.
6. Paint It White
Paint a base coat of white acrylic paint over the entire egg holder. Let it dry thoroughly.
7. Add Floral Details
Use colorful acrylic paints to decorate the egg holder with spring-inspired flowers like daisies, tulips, and sunflowers. Get creative!
8. Seal It
Once all your paint is dry, seal your design with a layer of Mod Podge to protect the colors and give it a slight sheen.
9. Display & Enjoy!
Let the Mod Podge dry completely, then place your eggs in the holder and show it off! It’s a beautiful way to celebrate the season and reuse your egg cartons in a fun, sustainable way.
