Scrambled, boiled, poached – there are a thousand ways to cook an egg! At Chino Valley Ranchers, we’re always looking for new egg-cooking techniques. This week, we bring you steamed eggs. What are steamed eggs, you ask? Simply put, steamed eggs are steamed instead of boiled. This technique has been popular due to the fact that the eggs are easier to peel and are known to produce more tender whites and creamier yolks than boiled eggs. Plus, it’s a pretty quick and easy way to cook some delicious eggs. It’s an egg-lover’s dream!

Want to take a crack at making steamed eggs?

What You’ll Need

  • Chino Valley Ranchers’ eggs
  • A pot, with a steamer
  • A bowl of ice water

Optional Ingredients

  • Salt
  • Pepper

Begin by bringing an inch of water in a pot to a boil, and place the steamer inside. Next, gently place your Chino Valley Ranchers’ eggs into the steamer and cover the pot. Use the following guideline to set a countdown:

  • For hard-boiled eggs: Steam for 12 minutes.
  • For soft-boiled eggs: Steam for 6 minutes.

After the selected time is up, carefully remove your eggs with a spoon or tongs and place them straight into a bowl of ice water. The ice water helps to stop the eggs from cooking. It also ensures that the eggs come out perfectly shaped, without indentations on their ends.

Allow the eggs to cool down for 10-15 minutes before peeling. Sprinkle with salt and pepper, and enjoy!

There you have it – a Chino Valley Ranchers’ foolproof way of producing perfectly shaped, creamy-yolked eggs! If you liked this recipe, be sure to give it a share and check out other Chino Valley Rancher recipes! If you have questions about our products, please contact us today.
